Location

Located in northern Tuscany it is just 34km from the wonderful city of Florence where one can explore the birth of the Renaissance uncovering the likes of David, Michelangelo’s masterpiece now housed in the Galleria dell’Accademia, the famous Ponte Vecchio, the coloured marbles of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiori Basilica, the Uffizi Gallery and the Piazza della Signoria.

Borgo San Lorenzo, just 5km away, is the nearest town to Villa San Lorenzo and for such a small town oozes a huge amount of history.  Its location was said to be strategically important sitting next to two key roads leading from the valley directly to Florence and led to many turbulent years for the town itself.  There are some beautiful buildings to explore here such as the Oratory of the Madonna and the Three Rivers, built on the site said to be where the Madonna was seen.

The famous Passatore race passes through here each year as the marathon runners take to the streets on their 100km dash.  For those who wish for a little natural beauty, Monte Giovi is the place to spend a day exploring the valleys and woods, the wildlife and the tranquillity.
