Lying at the foot hills of the magnificent Monte Maiella and bordering the National Park of Abruzzo, the views from almost every window of Casa Monte Maiella are of course simply breath-taking. The sound of birdsong, the peace and quiet is quite literally magical.
This lovely recently renovated home sleeps up to 9 guests in total so ideal for family and friends. It offers accommodation over three floors, all well-equipped and very comfortable. The pool and deck area is one of a kind; where else can you lie by a pool with a view of snow-capped mountains just it seems, a stone’s throw away?
Enjoy dinner al fresco on the terrace, which gives way to the valley below and opposite is the hilltop town of Palombaro with its traditional trattorias, shops and church.
Due to the varying levels of this lovely home, we unfortunately must advise that it is not suitable for disabled access or those unable to climb stairs. Please note there is a no smoking policy inside Casa Monte Maiella.
Casa Monte Maiella offers a great base amongst the natural beauty of Chieti and perfectly placed to explore the region of Abruzzo in its entirety.
The town of Palombaro is 536 meters above sea level and sits at the bottom of Monte Maiella, bordering the National Park of Abruzzo. There are countless opportunities to explore the area with hiking excursions and beautiful walking trails. Mountain biking, climbing and horse riding are also extremely popular here. And do keep your eyes peeled for some its native species including the golden eagle, the wolf and Marsican brown bear.
The city of Chieti dates back to the Middle Ages and is a lovely day trip to explore the Cathedral of St. Justin and the Roman ruins amongst the city including the forum, baths, theatre and numerous temples.
Just a 35 minute drive to the beach and enjoy the beautiful calm waters of the Adriatic, the promenade and water sports galore including windsurfing, fishing and canoeing.
Abruzzo still remains very much undiscovered; as Tuscany is home to some of the world’s architectural and artistic treasures, Abruzzo is home to the world’s natural beauty. Abruzzo offers a wonderful mix of ancient hilltop towns, abbeys, castles, medieval ruins, mountains, valleys, three national parks and over 30 nature reserves.
Although Pescara airport is no doubt the closest airport to Casa Monte Maiella being just 57 km away, Rome Ciampino's airport is just under a two and a half hour drive away.
